Errol Musk, the father of billionaire Elon Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren, including a stepdaughter he fathered a child with. The incidents have emerged from a comprehensive investigation published by The New York Times, detailing a disturbing family history that reveals both the depth and breadth of the allegations against the 79-year-old.
The investigations into Errol Musk are layered with allegations dating back to 1993, when his then-four-year-old stepdaughter first accused him of misconduct. Since then, numerous claims have surfaced from various family members, painting a troubling portrait of a man alleged to have inflicted emotional and physical harm upon those closest to him. One particularly alarming accusation describes a scenario where, a decade later, the same stepdaughter caught Errol in her bedroom, reportedly sniffing her dirty underwear, indicating a long-standing pattern of troubling behaviour.
Elon Musk, who has famously stated in a biography that he is not in contact with his father, finds himself deeply embedded in this familial turmoil. He has taken steps to distance his children from Errol, supporting family members financially and attempting to protect them from potential harm. A family member indicated that Elon even offered to pay for the stepdaughter’s rehabilitation, indicative of his concern for her wellbeing amid the chaos.
As recently as 2023, alarming new allegations surfaced involving Errol’s biological son, who reportedly confirmed claims of inappropriate conduct, leading to three police investigations. While two of these cases were closed without charges, the status of the third remains unclear.
Despite these serious allegations, Errol Musk has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing, referring to the claims as “false and nonsense” and suggesting that some family members might be motivated by financial gain. “My family has put the children up to saying false things to get money from Elon,” he claimed in his defence. However, family dynamics have often been at odds with these statements, and further accusations reveal a convoluted history of abuse allegations that seem to echo across time and context.
The gravity of the situation is compounded by Errol’s attempts to capitalise on the fame of his son. Recently, he has allegedly sought to launch a Musk-themed meme coin and construct a branded tower in Dubai, drawing ire from family members who view these ventures as opportunistic exploitation of Elon’s success.
