According to one of his Springbok colleagues, Eben Etzebeth, the Player of the Year for SA Rugby in 2022, is the finest in the entire globe. Following a succession of standout performances by the seasoned lock last year, Etzebeth was awarded the best player in South Africa on Wednesday for the 2022 season. The 31-year-old was the only player to feature in all 13 of the Springboks’ matches in 2022.

He made his 100th Test appearance against Wales in July. When the Springboks travel to France to defend their 2019 World Cup crown, Etzebeth is anticipated to be a key component of a strong combination of locks, depending on his or her level of fitness.

If he recovers from his injury in time, Salmaan Moerat, another player who played alongside Etzebeth at the DHL Stormers, may board the aircraft. The second-rower, who is quickly rising to stardom.

Etzebeth was essential in his growth as a lock and a leader. Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha were players of a high caliber, according to Moerat.

“Right now, the battle for spots on the national squad is so healthy. Eben Etzebeth would be the man you would model your game after, if I had to pick just one. He’s likely the finest in the world right now, said Moerat.
