American musician, Terry Raymond IV, affectionately known as Usher took to X to announce a collaboration with actress Keke Palmer on his new track ‘Boyfriend’ dropping on 16 August 2023.
’’Somebody said that your boyfriend is looking for me’’, teased Usher on the video’s snippet.
While this may be a normal announcement of two artists working together on a project, tweeps presumed it to be a diss to Palmer’s’ baby daddy’, Darius Jackson.
This follows last month’s heated spat between Palmer and Jackson when he expressed his dissatisfaction with Palmer’s black see-through dress to Usher’s Las Vegas show.
‘’It’s the outfit tho…you a mom’’, he reacted to a video of the singer dancing with his baby mama.
In a since deleted tweet, Jackson shared how he felt misrepresented by Palmer.
‘’We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife and mother of his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others and he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family and my representation. I have standards and morals to what I believe. I rest my case’’, he added.
This divided users and sparked a debate on social media, with some accusing Jackson of body shaming his partner.
Adding fuel to the fire, Palmer responded to her lover’s post with a photo dump from the concert and commented ‘’I wish I had taken more pictures but we were running late’’!
Jackson has since deleted any posts featuring Palmer from his Instagram account, but while it is unclear if the couple is still together, Keke continues to embrace and share her joy of motherhood.
Fans have shared mixed reactions to her collabo with Usher, some are referring to it as a total mess, next level pettiness and disrespectful among others.
’’Did Usher just say what I think he said’’, one user commented.
’’They had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and they did it’’, another person added.
Jackson has not commented on the controversy.
