Former Miss Universe unexpected wedding sparks a Love vs Money debate on X

“We need to be honest, Zozibini Tunzi deserves a wealthy man like abo Patrice Motsepe not Katlego Sekhu who is a digital content producer at Khaya FM,” read the caption from the @joy_zelda account, when it posted a wedding picture of the couple.

This follows the wedding announcement of former Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, to businessman Luthando Bolowana.

The two tied the knot at a private ceremony with family and friends last weekend and Mzansi was shocked by Tunzi’s ability to keep her life private, especially in a world where everything is posted on social media.

However, apart from the congratulatory messages and compliments, @joy_zelda’s post sparked some controversy and opened a debate on whether it matters who the most prominent and famous people choose as their life partners.

@_ZaliNxabi weighed in by saying “Zozi deserves love, respect and honour. You like projecting your expectations on others.”

Another user @BbwlMaturity said “Falling in love and choosing a life partner is not a national project. People decide who they want to marry and don’t need to explain or seek anyone’s approval or validation. It’s about them. Their happiness and future.”

@Jimbozz20 continued with “So it’s all about money now not love? Do you know how much Katlego has and what he is making?”.

@Ngamlajo agreed with the post and wrote “We need to advise these women celebrities to stop marrying for love because their lifestyle demands of them to be that selfish.”

The debate on the topic of whether to marry for money or love dates to ages ago, with others convinced that marrying into power is good for security and opportunities.

On the other hand, others believe love to be one of the things money can simply not buy.

Another talking point from Tunzi’s situation was the condemnation of having an opinion about people’s personal choices.

That however was quickly shutdown, as the main argument was that when you become a celebrity you lose certain privileges to privacy or having everyone in your business all the time.
