Only a few hours after he was shot and killed in Durban, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ friends and family began showing up at his house in Bryanston, Johannesburg, on Saturday morning.

The rapper was shot and killed on Friday night on the Florida Road strip in Durban where he was set to perform later the evening. His close friend and celebrity chef, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, was the second victim, who was shot in the chest and later also died at the scene.

In Johannesburg, cars lined the street outside AKA’s home, as friends made their way to his home to pay their last respects.  Ntombezinhle “DJ Zinhle” Jiyane also arrived in the afternoon along with DJ and producer Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa.

Jiyane and AKA share a child together. The pair officially split in 2020, and Jiyane is now married to Bongani “Murdah Bongz” Mohosana, a DJ who performed in the former Black Motion outfit.

A van came with what seemed to be refreshments for the visitors as a security outside the facility made sure the media and others stayed a safe distance from the gates. Along with DJ and producer Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa, Ntombezinhle “DJ Zinhle” Jiyane also came in the afternoon.

AKA and Jiyane are parents of the same child. Jiyane is currently married to DJ Bongani “Murdah Bongz” Mohosana, who was a member of the defunct Black Motion band, after the couple divorced in 2020.

Mohosana also popped in, in the morning, as well as Kabelo Mabalane, a member of  TKZee.

On Saturday afternoon Wish restaurant issued a statement. “We are in the process of cooperating with the SAPS and have handed over all surveillance footage from the evening in question. We are awaiting further communication from the SAPS and the investigation officer working on the case,” said the statement.

The restaurant said it will be closed till further notice and extended their sympathies to the family.
