The Gauteng province is on high alert as the South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for heavy downpours that could lead to flooding. This caution comes amidst predictions of severe weather conditions, including potential damaging winds and hail, particularly in the southern and central areas of the region.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela provided insights into the evolving weather patterns, suggesting that residents should be prepared for “isolated to a scattered chance of showers and thundershowers into the afternoon.” These conditions are expected to extend over the North West province, reaching parts of KwaZulu-Natal, and infiltrating the southern areas of Limpopo.
According to Thobela, although Gauteng itself may only experience isolated showers and thundershowers, the potential for severe weather elsewhere necessitates vigilance. “We encourage all residents to stay informed and take the necessary precautions as the situation develops,” he added.
The forecasts for tomorrow indicate that the weather could shift significantly, with various northeastern provinces also expected to experience similar patterns of rainfall.
