Two suspects have been arrested and detained in connection with the fatal shooting that took place on December 16, outside the Zambesi House building in Johannesburg’s CBD. The individuals were initially taken in for questioning early on December 22, from a hostel in Soweto, and have since been officially charged with murder.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili confirmed the arrests, stating:
“The two persons of interest that have been brought in for questioning during the early hours of 22 December 2025 have been detained and will be charged with the murder of DJ Warras. They are due to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday.”
The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to search for additional accomplices. Police originally suspected three individuals were involved in the ambush, based on CCTV footage showing three suspects approaching Stock after he parked his vehicle.
DJ Warras, a beloved radio and TV presenter, podcaster, and businessman, was at the building providing private security services through his company when he was fatally shot. The motive appears linked to his work securing hijacked properties in the inner city, where he had reportedly obtained multiple protection orders against threatening individuals.
This development comes after intense public pressure and promises from high-ranking officials, including National Police Commissioner Gen Fannie Masemola, who had indicated a suspect would be arrested by December 22. Tributes continue to pour in for DJ Warras, remembered as a devoted father, patriot, and fearless voice in South Africa’s entertainment and business communities.
