Gift of the Givers has lent a helping hand to about 250 people affected by floods in Carousel View in Tshwane, distributing blankets and mattresses for the residents.

The affected residents gathered at Carousel Casino to collect the supplies on Thursday.

Gift of the Givers representative, Clifford Mabe, said they will be distributing blankets and mattresses to the affected people.

“We couldn’t come yesterday because the scene was not safe. We were here today around 10:00 and we did our assessment. We saw that everything was damaged, blankets, clothes and everything was damaged. We came with our leaders and we brought mattresses for the victims and hot meals for the victims for today,” said Mabe.

Moretele local Municipality spokesperson, Mothupi Malebye said a team is assisting the affected residents.

“We are working with various departments and currently we are with the Gift of the Givers and a team of our people are already on site working with disaster management and technical services. The TLB and machinery are now at Carousel View to assist people who have been affected by these floods.
