Ireland beat the Springboks 25-24 at a packed Kings Park Stadium in Durban to level the two-match series.

After last week’s 27-20 defeat at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, the second-ranked Ireland produced an improved performance to secure victory against the World Cup champions.

The win is Ireland’s second over the Springboks in South Africa in 12 matches with the hosts having won 10 of their previous encounters.

Ireland led 16-6 at half-time. A drop-goal after the hooter by Ireland replacement back Ciaran Frawley saw the visitors snatch a dramatic 25-24 win over the Springboks at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday.

All of South Africa’s points came via eight penalties from the boot of flyhalf Handre Pollard. The world champions demolished Ireland at scrum time but in the end paid the price for not making the most of their opportunities.

The result sees the series at 1-1.
