The Vodacom Blue Bulls coach Jake White said he’s been left speechless with the depth and talent assembled by the Leinster rugby team, describing it as “not a normal team.”
His comments come after the Bulls lost 32-7 against the marauding Leinster in the United Rugby Championship Grand Final match at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
“You must understand, this is not a normal rugby team.
I made a note in my book, they are 19–0 up and they bring on RG Snyman.
We couldn’t get our hands on the ball.
I say again to all the Irish, I don’t think they give the credit to that Leinster team.
They are well coached, they are fantastic guys as well,” said White during a post-match media briefing.
The win earned the Irish side their ninth title in the history of the competition, while the Bulls suffered their third defeat in a Grand Final since the 2021/22 season.
“I’ve now got three silver medals.
I have to try and find out how to turn silver into gold,” bemoaned White.
Leinster dominated the match from the first whistle, scoring three tries in the opening 22 minutes, displaying their prowess to deny the Pretoria a single point in the first half for an encouraging 19-0 lead.
The Irish giants added two penalty goals and their fourth try in the second half, while limiting the visitors to a converted try for their efforts, to seal the rewarding victory.
The World Cup winning coach glowed tributes to the Irish side, adding that the local franchises can learn a lot from Leinster, to be able to compete in the same level with them.
“The lesson I’ve taken from that is we need more international players to play in our province.
I need what Leinster have.
I need to be able to fight fire with fire.
If you’re playing against 23 internationals, I think today Leinster were short with only 22, there is a complete difference,” remarked White.
