The daughter of the late rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and entrepreneur, DJ Zinhle, Kairo Forbes, is carrying her father’s legacy after bagging the Favourite African Kid Influencer Award at the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, held in Los Angeles, USA.

Back in 2019, AKA won the same award under the Favourite South African Star category.

During a watch party award ceremony held in Johannesburg, the rising star walked to the stage upon the announcement of her victory, with AKA’s ‘Congratulations’ track playing in the background.

“Thank you to my family and everyone who voted for me. I’m very happy and I appreciate your support. I hope that I inspire other kids to have dreams and that they have family that will support their dreams. Thank you, God, for all your blessings. This one’s for you Daddy,’’ said the eight-year-old Kairo, upon her acceptance speech.

Kairo’s win was well received even by some big names in the entertainment industry, including her mother, DJ Zinhle.

“Seeing you happy gave me such relief. Your little heart has been through a lot. I pray for more happiness in your life. Congratulations baby,” wrote Zinhle.

Amapiano musician @ladydu_sa commented “Congratulations my shining star, I wish you all the happiness in the world, God bless you more baby.

Congrats beautiful.”

“Congratulations baby girl,’’ commented @nandi_madida and @thabsie_sa respectively

Despite the tragedy of her father’s untimely death, young Kairo’s light continues to shine brighter as she grows her brand, by featuring in various social media campaigns and TV commercials.
