Businessperson Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe is set to appear again in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg on Thursday morning, as he faces grave accusations tied to the high-profile murders of renowned DJs, Oupa Sefoka, better known as DJ Sumbody, and Hector ‘DJ Vintos’ Buthelezi. Alongside three co-accused, Molefe, who was denied bail last month, remains in custody as the case unfolds.

The prosecution contends that Molefe played a pivotal role in orchestrating the killings, with investigators claiming that the murders were part of a broader scheme involving contract killings linked to the vibrant music industry. During a recent bail application hearing, details emerged that suggested a series of intricate connections among these violent incidents.

The investigating officer presented forensic evidence before the court that suggests high-calibre rifles used in DJ Sumbody’s murder are also connected to other notorious crimes, notably the killing of DJ Vintos and the tragic death of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart. Such revelations leave little doubt as to the seriousness with which the State is approaching this case.

In a troubling twist, the prosecution has also revealed that Molefe carries a past conviction for drug-related offences in the United Kingdom and has a history of using a false passport to travel abroad. These factors may complicate his defence strategy, as the court considers the gravity of the charges he is facing, which include multiple counts of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
