British driver, Lando Norris has changed McLaren’s fortunes after winning this season’s title, after the clinched the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix final race at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday.

This marks his first F1 title since his debut at McLaren in 2019. The 26-year-old driver won the title by two points from Red Bull’s defending champion, Max Verstappen. Team Principal Andrea Stella gave credit to the team, describing the victory as a hard-fought win.

“While only one driver can take the Driver’s Championship title each season, to be in a situation where both Lando and Oscar Piastri (teammate) were challenging at the sharp end against a four-time World Championship in Max Verstappen, was always an ambition and not a problem. The demand for this was huge but everyone stuck to our culture which showed our incredible unity, and I’m so happy that the team has been rewarded this success,” expressed Stella.

Norris’ milestone makes him the first British champion for McLaren since Lewis Hamilton back in 2020. He dedicated his win to his support structure and thanked them for believing in him.

“This is for everyone that’s been there for me on this journey. For my family, my team and everyone at McLaren. I’m so proud, not because I’m World Champion, but because of everything those around me have given up making this possible. Making them happy and rewarding their sacrifices and hard work is what makes me proud,” said Norris.

McLaren was a formidable force during the 2025 season after securing a total of 14 wins and 34 podiums, which led to their 10th iconic championship win.

Stella thanked all stakeholders for their contribution to the team’s success.
