Popular Limpopo lekompo musician Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, makes his first court appearance at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, facing two counts of attempted murder.

The 30-year-old artist was dramatically arrested on Wednesday in the Bendor suburb, in the presence of his lawyer, following an intelligence-led operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS).The charges stem from a violent road rage incident on 19 October 2025 along Witklip Street in Ladanna. According to police, Shebeshxt allegedly fired multiple shots at a vehicle carrying two occupants after a dispute that began at a nearby petrol station.

A 34-year-old man was struck in the cheek and rushed to hospital in critical condition. The second passenger escaped unharmed.Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the arrest and emphasized the gravity of the case. “A dedicated investigation team was appointed, and no stone will be left unturned. No one is above the law, regardless of their social standing,” he said.

Police seized the musician’s vehicles for forensic examination as part of the ongoing probe. The case has been transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit, with an arrest warrant issued on 11 November.

Shebeshxt, known for high-energy hits like Dilo Tse Massive, has faced previous legal challenges, including earlier attempted murder charges and a tragic 2025 car accident that claimed the life of his nine-year-old daughter. The court appearance continues, with further updates expected
