Limpopo PEC confirms it is backing President Ramaphosa for a second term

The ANC in Limpopo has reiterated its stand to back President Cyril Ramaphosa for the second term as ANC President.

This follows calls by Limpopo deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani to provincial delegates to back former Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize for the position of president.

Radzilani was addressing delegates last night ahead of voting to elect the party’s top seven.

ANC Limpopo spokesperson, Machaka Mathole said delegates can lobby for their preferred candidates and Radzilani like any other leader who is a delegate at the ANC conference, has the right to lobby for any candidate of her choice.

“I Want to affirm the decision of the National Executive committee as well as the decision of branches,” said Mathole while sending a stern warning to the delegates not to lobby for preferred candidates by making an “impression that it is the decision of the provincial executive”

“So a decision of the Limpopo executive council committee is that we are supporting President Cyril Ramaphosa for second term, Paul Mashitle as the Deputy President, Ndumiseni Ntuli as the secretary General, Comrade Nomvula Mokonyane as the DSG, Dr Bejani Chauke as the Treasurer and Comrade Stanley Mathabatha as the national chairperson.

“So it is prudent to make this very clear because no impression must be created using the name of the provincial executive. I am the spokesperson of the ANC. I communicate the decision of the African National Congress as far as it relates  to the Limpopo province unless it’s the provincial secretary himself.
