The seventh witness, Tumelo Madlala has identified Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi as one of the intruders who got in the house the night Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down on 26 October 2014.

This emerged when Madlala took the stand at the North Gauteng High Court on Monday where five men are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The five men on trial are accused No 1 to 5, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya,  Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli.

State prosecutor George Baloyi led evidence as he unraveled what transpired on 26 October when Meyiwa was killed in an alleged botched robbery.

Madlala said Ntanzi was one of the two men who allegedly invaded the Vosloorus house on the fateful night.

“The tall one. The second (Bongani Ntanzi) one who accessed the house. He was leaning against the door and Senzo had pinned him against the wall that is depicted in that picture. He was holding his arms,” said Madlala.

Baloyi asked: “Which direction was this person you described as accused Number 2 facing and in which direction was the deceased facing?”

Madlala said Ntanzi was facing inside the kitchen while Meyiwa had pinned him against the hall “facing the door”.

Madlala said during the tussle he managed to hit Ntanzi with a fist on the cheek when a loud gunshot was heard.

“I hit him on the face with a fist. He was leaning against that wall. After that the gunshot went off. The gunshot made a loud sound and it deafened my ears because where we were it was reasonably confined space. There are drawers on this side so there isn’t much of a movement in that spot where the gunshot went off. I then ran into the bedroom,” said Madlala .

Madlala said the gunshot went off in the kitchen where there was a scuffle with the two intruders. He added that he only heard one gunshot because he was temporarily deafened when it went off.

Madlala described the gunman as short with dreadlocks.
