Allegations of the embattled Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s presidential ambitions and the Hawks’ interference in police investigations are under the spotlight at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

The commission will continue its hearings in Pretoria on Monday morning. Various witnesses involved in investigating businessman and murder accused Katiso “KT” Molefe will take the stand this week. An operation to arrest Molefe took place in Sandhurst, Johannesburg, in December last year.

He was arrested for the murder of Vereeniging Engineer Armand Swart.Various witnesses have taken to the stand at the commission to testify about the takedown operation of murder accused Katiso “KT” Molefe.

The testimonies of witnesses A, B and Captain Maxwell Wanda – a former member of the Political Killings Task Team have corroborated with each other.

All three have testified about how members of the Hawks allegedly tried to interfere with investigative operations at Molefe’s home. They further testified about the presence of a South African Police Service helicopter which hovered about Molefe’s house during the operation.

The commission continues.
