Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has called on residents of the province and fans across South Africa to continue uniting in prayer for the speedy recovery of beloved singer Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, popularly known as Makhadzi, following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident on New Year’s Eve.
The award-winning artist was involved in a car crash in the early hours of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg, where she was scheduled to perform at a festive event. According to statements from Makhadzi Entertainment, she sustained injuries but is in stable condition and under close observation by medical professionals in a Polokwane hospital. She is receiving ongoing medical care, with further procedures possible as part of her recovery process.
Premier Ramathuba expressed ongoing concern, highlighting Makhadzi as an iconic figure whose music and contributions have brought immense pride to Limpopo and the nation.
“It is in trying times like these that we turn to faith for strength and healing. Makhadzi is dearly loved, and her impact on our culture is profound,” Ramathuba said. “We ask everyone to keep her in their prayers as she heals, and to respect her privacy so she can focus on getting back to the stage.”
The Premier also reiterated calls for road safety, especially during the busy festive season, urging drivers to be cautious and responsible to prevent similar incidents.
As of January 1, 2026, no major changes to Makhadzi’s condition have been reported, and her management continues to handle updates through official channels. Fans, fellow artists, and public figures have shown overwhelming support on social media, with messages of encouragement trending under hashtags like #PrayForMakhadzi and #GetWellSoonMakhadzi.
Further updates on her health will be shared by her team as they become available.
