Pretoria – A Mamelodi man accused of the cold-blooded murder of his girlfriend and her cousin has abandoned his bail application, keeping him in custody as investigations continue into the shocking double killing.

Tebogo Mnisi (38) appeared briefly in the Mamelodi Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. He faces multiple charges after the deadly shooting that took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria.

Mnisi is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend, Tshiamo Moramaga (22), and her cousin, Boleseng Moramaga (21). Police say he also allegedly attempted to murder their friend, Desmond Semang (27), who was critically wounded and is still fighting for his life in hospital.

Residents discovered the bodies of Tshiamo and Boleseng lying on the side of the road with gunshot wounds. Moments earlier, the group had reportedly been seen with Mnisi at Small Konka Tavern in the same area.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana confirmed Mnisi faces charges of:

  • Two counts of premeditated murder
  • Attempted murder
  • Possession of an unlicensed firearm
  • Possession of unlawful ammunition

He was arrested on 27 October 2025 at a garage along Solomon Mahlangu Drive, days after police launched a manhunt for him.

“In court, Mnisi abandoned his bail application, and the matter was postponed to 19 January 2026 for further investigation. He remains in custody pending the finalisation of the case,” Mahanjana said.

The NPA condemned the attack, which it labelled an act of gender-based violence and femicide, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that offenders face the full might of the law.

The case has intensified public outrage over the continued rise of intimate partner killings in South Africa, with activists calling for swift justice for the Moramaga family.
