Mamelodi Sundowns will host German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for a high-profile international friendly at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00.

The match is part of RB Leipzig’s RE KAOFELA (All Together) tour, marking the club’s first-ever visit to South Africa. The team will be based in Johannesburg from 26–30 May 2026, following previous international tours to the United States in 2024 and Brazil in 2025.

“After successful tours in the United States and Brazil, we are very much looking forward to travelling to South Africa and meeting Mamelodi Sundowns, a club that has shaped African football and enjoys significant international recognition,” said Johann Plenge, Managing Director (CBO) of RB Leipzig. “We carry the colours of our club and city into the world and aim to be the best possible ambassadors for Leipzig.”

For Sundowns, who participated in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the fixture offers a high-profile test against European opposition, highlighting the growing international strategies of both clubs. Plenge added that the match “brings together two football cultures known for professionalism, talent development, and innovation, and sets a strong signal for sporting exchange between Germany and South Africa.”

The friendly represents a major milestone for RB Leipzig as the club expands its global presence, combining sporting showcase with initiatives to engage local fans.
