Struggling Marumo Gallants shocked Orlando Pirates by beating the Soweto giants 2-0 in the Betway Premiership match at the Free State stadium in Bloemfontein.

The win dent the Buccaneers title race hopes, as it leaves them trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by a massive 18 points.

Pirates however have four games in hand and will be crossing fingers that Sundowns will lose some of their games in the log.

Gabadinho Mhango and an own goal by Thalente Mbatha ensured that Bahlabane Ba Ntwa ease out of relegation playoff zone, to climb to 13th on the log.

At the Lucas Moripe stadium in Atteridgeville, Sundowns registered a double win against Kaizer Chiefs this season, to win the match 1-0.

This was Amakhosi’s eight defeat from 19 league games and sees them drop to position eight in the log.

Meanwhile at the Seshego Stadium, Magesi ended their two-match losing streak following a well-deserved 1-0 against SuperSport United.

The win moves the Nedbank Cup champions to 15th on the log, while United is 12th in the log.

Richards Bay and Chippa United failed to shake the net, as they played to a 0-0 draw at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday night.

Keagan Dolly and second-half substitute Puso Dithejane helped TS Galaxy register a 2-0 win against Golden Arrows at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
