Senzo Mchunu, the water and sanitation minister, is scheduled to meet with a Technical Task Team on Monday in Rustenburg, South Africa, to hear updates on the interventions needed in the region.

Mchunu and Premier Bushy Maape co-chair the provincial steering committee, which was constituted last month. This came after several demonstrations over the delivery of services in the region, particularly in Lehurutshe close to Zeerust.

Wisane Mavasa, a spokesman for the Department of Water and Sanitation, states that “the Task Team’s role is to review [and] plan for the implementation of these measures. The Department of Water and Sanitation, Magalies Water, district, and local government make up the task force. Since then, [all pertinent parties] have gathered for weekly meetings to plan the best ways to offer long-term water and sanitation solutions for the province. The conference is scheduled to start this morning in Rustenburg.
