Former President Jacob Zuma has vowed to intensify his fight against the recently formed Government of National Unity (GNU) which he also insists should instead be labelled a “ DA-ANC sellout coalition”, calling it ‘the worst betrayal of the African majority.’
Zuma briefed the media in Johannesburg on Sunday and said party will continue to protest peacefully, through court action, in parliament and through demonstrations to institutions he believes are complicit in the election rigging he alleges is being covered up. Zuma said the boycott of the first sitting of the National Assembly by MK MPs was a form of transport and confirmed that the group would soon takeover their seats.
“There’s no government of national unity in South Africa. There’s a white-led unholy alliance between the DA and the ANC of Ramaphosa. It is sponsored by big business. It is for the benefit of the markets, not the people. It must be crushed before it finds feet, “ said Zuma in a statement read by spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela.
“At 40 % the ANC of Ramaphosa had a choice to listen to the people and team up with those fighting for the total liberation of our people and the return of the land or to team up with those who stand for racism, white supremacy, backwardness, land theft, Zionism and other ends. They chose to go to bed with the racists. By doing so, the ANC of Ramaphosa has defined itself outside the progressive forces of change,” said Zuma.
Zuma said his legal team was exploring ways to challenge decisions of constitutional court, that saw declared ineligible to stand for parliament and the dismissal of his party’s application aimed at interdicting the constitution of parliament. He said exploring legal avenues both domestically and internationally.
Zuma also accused the ANC and DA of deliberately misrepresenting MK party’s views on the constitution to scare off South Africans.
Zuma believes the constitutional court is generally biased against him because of the involvement of former family friend and now adversary Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
“That is the same court which was prepared to give urgent and direct access to judge Zondo to bypass the criminal courts and to sentence me to go to prison without a trial. Now the same court is not prepared to give direct access to test whether the IEC acted wrongly in rushing the election results and possibly having an illegal government for the next five years,” said Zuma.
