MK activist and Tshwane Regional Organiser Mpho Morolane has come out strongly in defense of the party’s former Secretary General Floyd Shivambu who has announced he’s forming a new organisation with all indications being that he will be expelled from the party.Morolane attended Shivambu’s media briefing in Midrand on Thursday and said former EFF members who followed him when he dumped the red berets who find themselves in limbo should take responsibility for their own actions.Former EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is among those who were collateral damage as he fell out of favour with the party leadership for his association with Shivambu but mostly for not speaking out when he was claimed by MKP. Morolane said none of the individuals could blame Shivambu for their choices as they followed him voluntarily.”

That’s not a fair question. Remember, as individuals, we take full responsibility of our lives. It can’t be that a decision that has been made by a second person, then I blame that person. When we join organisations, we join organisations voluntarily, knowing that they are not perfect. It’s like approaching a woman. You approach a woman with the hope that you are to have a long-lasting relationship. And if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. It’s part of life. It’s the nature of how things unfold in life.So we can’t be saying that he’s been responsible in destroying the lives of many South Africans. We must take responsibility ourselves as individuals. Myself, coming here, I took responsibility in my own personal capacity. If there are consequences, I can’t put the responsibility on the former SG of uMkhonto weSizwe,” said Morolane.Even with his new initiative, Shivambu claimed that those involved in the planning phase were from the ANC, EFF and MKP suggesting his organisation will be competing for legitimacy with the three.” It’s open. Even tomorrow and Saturday we’re going to have a meeting represented by all leaders from the whole country. Some are members of the ANC, some are members of the EFF, some are members of the MK. And there’s nothing wrong with open meeting to say we’re going to listen to people. If their parties have got a problem with their members going to listen to people, then it’s their own issue. So listening we’re going to do and if our organisations think that listening is a crime, it’s wrong, then they will tell us that it’s wrong in terms of those issues,” said Shivambu of what he said will be a nation-wide consultation process.Morolane himself said he was willing to form part of Shivambu’s interim leadership core even if in doing so he risked being expelled from MKP.” I came here to listen to what the former SG of Umkonto Wesizu wanted to say. He spoke on to a consultative process of what is it that must happen in the Republic of South Africa. One remains a member of uMkhonto weSizwe. If one is given an opportunity to form part of engaging the people of South Africa in a consultative process, one will form part of that. Obviously, as a member of uMkhonto weSizwe part of our responsibility as an organisation is to listen to what the people of South Africa are saying. That is that for now.So the constitution of uMkhonto weSizwe says that members are not allowed to participate in activities and programmes of political parties whose aims and objectives are opposed to the objectives of uMkhonto weSizwe. If uMkhonto weSizwe believes that going to listen to the people violates the constitution, it will tell me that. That listening to the people is a violation of the constitution,” said Morolane with a bold demeanor.Shivambu said the interim leadership core will be announced in a week’s time.
