DSTV channel Moja Love has ended its relationship with host of controversial drug-busting show, Sizok’thola, Xolani Khumalo.

This comes after his second appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, on charges of killing an alleged drug dealer, Robert Varrie.

The channel took to its X account some of the reasons that influenced its decision to cut ties with Khumalo.

“The Channel elected not to continue with Mr Khumalo after raising concerns and questioning him about his knowledge and involvement in the unlawful incidents that led to the possible contamination of crime scenes, failed prosecutions of known drug lords and unfortunate tragedies that followed the filming of certain episodes,’’ read the statement.

Khumalo handed himself over at the Katlehong North Police Station on 19 September and was officially charged for Varrie’s murder.

The victim allegedly died during the recording of one of the show’s episodes in July. The news of Khumalo’s sacking has received mixed feelings from his X followers.

“He was actually the ONLY person in the country championing the war on drugs because we know the police are not doing anything about the drug pandemic.

Government is acting totally ignorant to the fact that there’s a young homeless drug addict at every traffic stop and corners of our communities,’’ one user wrote.

‘’Mara we told you mos, nina nacabanga ukuth we are protecting drug lords. Xolani was never going to win this drug war, it’s bigger than him’’, another one commented.

Through his Xolani Khumalo Foundation, the presenter welcomed Moja Love’s decision to axe him, which he claims was not communicated formally with him prior to its announcement and the channel has since refuted the allegations.

Khumalo warned drug dealers not to celebrate his stumbling block and vowed to continue fighting drug sales in the country on and off TV.

The Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court is expected to make a ruling on whether his trial will be transferred to a High Court or not, when he appears again on 21 November 2023.
