In a sit down on The Episode podcast on YouTube, Nyovest broke the silence about how AKA’ s death affected him.
‘’When we heard the news, I didn’t say anything for a few days because there was nothing I could have said that was not going to be turned against me, even if I said rest in peace,” he said.
Kiernan ‘’AKA’’ Forbes was shot and killed in February this year in Durban together with his lifetime friend, a chef and an entrepreneur Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
Nyovest and AKA have been at loggerheads for a long time and while their beef got ugly at times, it was recognised as a boost to SA’s Hip hop culture.
The beef came to a brief end in 2016 and the rappers shared a hug at a Johannesburg club to mark the end of their conflict.
As fans were getting used to them seeing eye to eye, things fell apart again in 2017 after Cassper declined AKA’s offer to perform at the #FillUpFNBStadium concert.
At the time, Nyovest was struggling to drum in support and sell tickets, and AKA offered to perform for R1 million but Cass later revealed that he rejected the offer because he knew that their relationship was not genuine.
While their fighting lasted until AKA’s final days, Cassper said he believes that they could’ve fixed things.
“Of course now, because he’s gone, I’ve got regrets, but we were just in a moment, we were all in the moment’’, he added.
For many years, fans were anticipating their collaboration with many believing it would be a major hit and that dream may now come true, as Cassper shared news of their unheard projects together.
‘’Well, we do have music together that people have never heard. We made a few records together,” he said
He also mentioned his upcoming album, which he described as his best and said it will be released by December.
‘’In my opinion, for me, that’s my best album because I’m calm, I’m not trying to prove anything and I was just trying to make a good album’’, he said.
Meanwhile, Cassper and Nasty C have dropped dates for the African Throne World Tour which is expected to kick off next month in Tanzania and wrap up in October in Johannesburg.
‘’Me and Broski are coming to a city/country near you and I’m mad excited. Drop your flags below and show us which country we will be meeting you in. Botswana and Eswatini tickets live now. The rest go live next week. More dates to be announced soon. See you in a bit,’’ wrote Cassper.
