The fourth state witness, cell phone data analyst and police officer Colonel Lambertus Steyn told the court that the people who were in the house when Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down didn’t call the police or emergency services.
Steyn said this during cross examination by the defence lawyers Sipho Ramosepele on Monday at the North Gauteng High court.
“That is correct my Lord I did check. I couldn’t find any numbers of the police, even 10 111 from any of the phones in our possession which was on my analyst database,” said Steyn.
This comes after Ramosepele asked if the people who were in the house on the night in question called police or emergency services.
Singer Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandile, their mother Gladness, Tumelo Madlala, Mthokozisi Thwala and Longwe Twala were in the house when Meyiwa was killed.
The first state witness, Zandile Khumalo told court when the trial started that two intruders entered their Vosloorus home on 26 October 2014.
Khumalo told court that she went to their nieghbour’s house (Maggie Phiri ) to seek assistance after Meyiwa was shot, however Phiri was also distraught and frantic when she heard about the ordeal.
She said Kelly and other people who were in the house drove Meyiwa to Botshelong Hospital where he was later declared dead.
