Another exciting domestic season is coming to an end this weekend with Mamelodi Sundowns officially crowned League Champions on Tuesday, securing their sixth title in a row with seven games to spare.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced nominees for the 2022/23 PSL Awards, with North-West born star Monnapule Saleng nominated in four categories.
With just one round of league football and the Nedbank Cup final still to be played, the league has announced the nominees for this year’s PSL awards, including the MTN8 Last Man Standing, the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and all DStv Premiership awards.
Orlando Pirates’ Saleng scored 10 goals and made six assists in 21 DStv Premiership matches this season. The 25-year-old attacker has been nominated in the following categories: the MTN 8 Last Man Standing, DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season as well as the Footballer of the Season.
The biggest award of the night (PSL Footballer of the Season) was contested by Saleng alongside Sundowns duo Teboho Mokoena and Ronwen Williams.
Saleng and Williams are also nominated for the Players’ Player of the Season, along with Themba Zwane.
Meanwhile, Rulani Mokwena will be up against Jose Riveiro and Gavin Hunt for the Coach of the Season.
For the Referee of the Season, Abongile Tom who has also been recognised by CAF this season will go against Masixole Bambiso and Sikhumbuzo Gasa.
This year’s end-of-season awards ceremony will once again be held virtually and scheduled for Sunday, 28 May 2023.
