North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi has begun a series of engagement sessions with traditional leadership structures across the province to strengthen collaboration and improve service delivery.
One of the first meetings took place with the Royal Council of the Barolong Ba Ga Boo Letlhogile, Tlou le Tau Tribal Council, at the Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality in Ganyesa.
Premier Mokgosi said the discussions provided traditional leaders an opportunity to raise concerns about governance and development in their communities.
“The traditional leaders sought clarity on the state of projects introduced during the sixth administration and whether they will continue under the seventh. Among the key issues raised was the lack of financial support for employees in traditional councils,” Mokgosi explained.
He described the engagement as constructive and productive, saying his administration was able to provide updates on ongoing initiatives while assuring leaders of government’s continued commitment to development in rural areas.
Both the provincial government and traditional councils agreed that strengthening relations between them would play a vital role in enhancing service delivery to communities.
Premier Mokgosi reaffirmed that his government will intensify rural development efforts, focusing on addressing critical issues such as infrastructure, water supply, and electricity access in underdeveloped areas.
“A united approach between government and traditional leadership will ensure our people see real change on the ground,” Mokgosi concluded.
