The Coach of Orbit College FC, Pogisho Makhoye, didn’t mince his words when asked about the fear of a potential relegation from the Betway Premiership, following a 1-0 defeat by Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium, in Soweto.

He made it clear that they fought tooth and nail to be where they are and have no fears of being relegated back to the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC).

“We didn’t buy the statue. We know how we promoted this team. So, it’s all about giving these young boys a chance because if we say we must sign experienced players, where are the Ramosala, Mabele and Setlhodi of the team going to get experience? These young boys promoted this team, and they deserve to play here,” said Makhoye.

He defended the team’s performance and called out the insinuation of the possibility of a relegation just after four games of the league.

“Even when we started last season at the MFC, we had four points but look where we ended up. We ended up being promoted so we are not panicking. It’s always been our concept to develop players. We are not going to the market and say we want to buy experienced players. It’s not a question of a budget it’s about giving these girls exposure. They’ve been with Orbit for the past 15 years not even getting paid and now this is their moment to shine. If we get relegated it’s fine because they are the ones that promoted this team,” Makhoye reiterated.

The North-West based outfit is optimistic to continue building squad depth and positioning itself at the top of the league.

The team has been forced to host their home games away at the Dobsonville stadium in Soweto, as the Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg does not meet the PSL standards.

They are currently placed on 14th position in the log, with only one win, and three losses.

They will next face TS Galaxy on August 30th at the Dobsonville stadium.
