The best footballers, coaches and officials in South Africa were honoured after another incredible Premier Soccer League season, on Sunday, 28 May 2023.

The winners of the 2022/23 PSL awards were announced virtually during Sunday night’s awards, with Monnapule Saleng and Teboho Mokoena winning big.

The Bloemhof-born, Orlando Pirates midfielder Saleng bagged two accolades on the night, following his impressive performances throughout the campaign.

Saleng scored four nominations ahead of the ceremony, eventually walking off with two, the MTN Last Man Standing accolade and the coveted DStv Premiership Players Player of the Season award – which is voted on by other players.

In total, Saleng found the net 15 times in all competitions, providing 11 assists to emerge as one of the standout players in a season where the Buccaneers claimed the MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup trophies, along with qualifying for next season’s CAF Champions League.

Earlier this year, the 25-year-old midfielder won the main accolade at the North-West Sports Awards, after winning Sports Star of the Year hosted by the North-West Department of Arts Culture Sports and Recreation (ACSR) in partnership with North-West Sports Confederation.

North West MEC for ACSR, Kenetswe Mosenogi congratulated Saleng for his accomplishment.

“We take pride in our very own and Saleng displayed determination and hard work. He is an inspiration not only to footballers but to the sports fraternity as a whole and he respects his work, and takes a God given talent seriously,” said Mosenogi.
