PA takes aim at the DA

The Patriotic Alliance has accused the DA of colluding with big business to fuel illegal immigration for the purpose of creating cheap labour. The party briefed the media in Johannesburg on Thursday and said while it wanted the Home Affairs portfolio it respected President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to offer it to the DA.
Patriotic Alliance Deputy President Kenny Kunene said the announcement by newly appointed Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber that top of his priorities is the fast tracking of VISAS for “skilled workers and tourists” should be viewed with suspicion.

For what we know, the minister could be using this position to legalise people who are in South Africa unlawfully so that they can later vote for the party ( Democratic Alliance), said Kunene.
The Patriotic Alliance is among parties that campaigned on an anti immigration ticket and believes itself to have benefited from discontent amongst poor South Africans who believe immigrants are partly to blame for their suffering.

Kunene said the party’s insistence on tougher implementation of immigration laws should not be misconstrued as xenophobia. He said South Africa was simply having too many problems to can handle the influx of migrants from neighbouring countries. “They say we hate Africans, we don’t. We love Africans. We just love South Africans more and are saying as a country we have more problems to deal with and can’t do so when we have to accommodate everyone from elsewhere in the world, we’ve got to put our people first,” said Kunene who also introduced scores of people said to be new members.

Among those introduced by Kunene was former commander of the PAC’s armed wing APLA Kenny Motsamai and Patrick Sindane both of whom served as EFF MPs. Kunene said the two had a track record in communities and were expected to help bring more people to the Patriotic Alliance. Kunene also made a plea to community activists across the country to join PA.
