Percy Tau parts ways with Al Ahly and joins Qatar SC

South Africa’s attacking midfielder, Percy Tau has left Egyptian club Al-Ahly for his new home, Qatar SC. The team announced Tau as a new official signing through a video captioned “Percy Tau Qatari” on their social media. He leaves Al Ahly six months before the end of his four year contract with the Egyptian giants, which was scheduled to end in June this year.

Tau made tremendous strides at the Red Devils where he won 12 major titles which consist of the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian League Championships amongst others. The move might also create chances for the Bafana Bafana star to earn a recall to the national team squad.

This as he previously missed out on a number of cup qualifying matches. Bafana coach Hugo Broos attributed the decision not to include Tau in the squad, to the amount of game time he got at the Egyptian Giants, also encouraging him to find a new club where he will play more regularly.

Furthermore, fans are eager to see how Tau will aid his new team to improve their league standings, as they are batttling the relegation zone of the Qatar Stars League. The team currently has ten points, and in 11th position on the league table.
