In a development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of renowned South African DJ Oupa John Sefoka, better known as DJ Sumbody, the police have announced that Katiso “KT” Molefe, the alleged mastermind behind the crime, has been positively linked to another shocking murder—of fellow DJ Hector “DJ Vintos” Buthelezi. Buthelezi was tragically gunned down outside a nightclub in Orlando East, Soweto, in late 2022, a case that has gripped the nation.

Today, Molefe, alongside three co-accused, made their appearance at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court, located to the north of Johannesburg. The group faces serious charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, as well as possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, provided additional context surrounding the case, revealing the interconnections between the criminal activities. “On the DJ Vintos case, we got all four accused which includes the alleged mastermind, Katiso Molefe. In contrast, for the case involving Don Tindleni, we have only managed to link three hit men, while Katiso Molefe remains not connected to that particular case thus far,” she noted.

This latest development raises critical questions about the city’s safety and the ongoing threat posed by organised crime.
