As the continuous Israel’s bombardment of Gaza has been ignored by some of the most prominent names in music and film globally, there are some who have voiced their stance in the atrocities.

English popstar and songwriter, Dua Lipa is among those who have echoed the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, adding to the countless calls that have already been made.

The ‘Don’t start now’ hitmaker expressed dismay to the continued hostilities between Hamas and Israel, which have left more than 24 000 Palestinians killed, mostly women and children.

‘’My feelings on displaced people are very real and raw, and it is a difficult subject to speak about because it’s so divisive. But there is a world where you can feel for all lives that are being lost,’’ she said.

Back in December, she pulled back a music video that had explosions and crowds fighting, saying it would be insensitive under circumstances of the ongoing conflict. This despite it being recorded long before the war broke out.

Following the 7 October attacks by Hamas in Israel, Hollywood artists including Drake and Jennifer Lopez together with various organisations joined the #Artists4Ceasefire movement, and appealed to US president, Joe Biden’s administration to intervene, as the situation is out of control.

Dua Lipa denounced Hamas’ attacks and rejected allegations that she was justifying their actions. Meanwhile, The Game of Thrones cast also came out to support South Africa’s Genocide (ICJ) case filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice, at The Hague, Netherlands.

Cast members took to social media to read aloud the 84-page case filed by Pretoria, in a bid to raise awareness about Israel’s atrocities.

This as most of the Western media has been accused of poor coverage of the court case. The ICJ concluded the hearings last week and is expected to make a ruling soon.

“The court will render its order on the request for the provisional measures submitted by South Africa as soon as possible,’’ it said.
