The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality urged residents who are still experiencing prolonged power outages in the areas affected by the Koedoespoort electricity substation to call its consumers care-line as power is back up.

The Municipality spokesperson, Selby Bokaba confirmed that power has been restored in areas that were affected by transformer explosions at the Koedoespoort substation.

“All affected areas of Koedoespoort Sub are back. If there is a customer that is still without power the complaint should be reported through customer care for the maintenance team to attend to it,” said Bokaba.

Earlier on Saturday, the mayor Cilliers Brink said the electricity has been temporarily restored and residents in the affected area should expect blackouts throughout the week.

“Electricity has been restored to most of the areas affected by yesterday’s events by a process of back feeding. That is to say supplying electricity from lines not affected by the fire. But even if your electricity has been restored I have to emphasize that this is only a temporary solution. You might still experience electricity interruption in the next few days,” said Brink.

Areas that were affected by the explosion at the substation are: Waverley, Moregloed, Bergtuin, Koedoespoort Industrial, Koedoespoort, Weavindpark, Lindopark, Eastlynn, Jan Niemand Park, Silverton industrial, Kilnerpark and Queenswood.
