The Proteas Women are eager to bring the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title home from India.
They are set to wrap up camp on Monday ahead of the 13th edition of the World Cup expected to kick off on Tuesday 30 September in India.
The cup title has historically been won by Australia about seven times, followed by England with four victories as well as New Zealand having lifted it twice.
If all goes well, it will be South Africa’s first time claiming the trophy.
Despite this, the team heads into the World Cup with the intention to dominate and give its opponents a run for their money.
They recently boosted their confidence prior to the championship by defeating Pakistan in the three-match One Day International (ODI) games in Lahore.
The team’s coach, Mandla Mashimbyi says he’s not alarmed by their opponents’ level of play.
“We are not panicking, especially by Australia or New Zealand.
If anything, their performance just shows that women cricket is growing.
It is growing significantly, and we just have to put our best foot forward and give it our best,” said Mashimbyi.
The Proteas are set to have their opening match against England at the Barspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, India.
Well wishes continue to pour in for the team ahead of their opening match.
The men’s team is amongst those who are rallying behind them and expressed confidence in their capabilities.
