Authorities report that multiple fraudulent social media profiles have been established, falsely claiming to represent KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

They have identified 16 such profiles. This development follows Mkhwanazi’s serious accusations regarding the corruption of high-ranking police officials and their connections to criminal organizations. In response, numerous protests have taken place, calling for accountability for those implicated in corrupt activities.

Provincial police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda has stated that Mkhwanazi does not maintain any social media profiles.

“The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal also wishes to urge the public to avoid using his images during various politically motivated demonstrations, particularly those opposing the State President. While the Commissioner values the support shown by the community towards the police’s efforts in KwaZulu-Natal, the utilisation of his images and name on signs and banners during protests could convey unintended messages to the government, its officials, and the global community. The Commissioner stands against crime and criminals, not against government leaders.”
