Ranga Chivaviro salvage a draw for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro goal saved the team from a consecutive loss, as he equalised deep into stoppage time, to clinch a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy in their Betway Premiership encounter at the Mbombela Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Samukele Kabini put the hosts in front in the 35th-minute, taking advantage of Amakhosi’s inconsistent start.

Chiefs Ashley Du Preez wasted a clear opportunity to equalise for the team in the half-hour mark when he beat an off-side trap, but his shot hit the side-netting.

The Mpumalanga outfit held on to their slight lead into the break and survived countless Chiefs attacks in the second half.

But the Glamour Boys piled up the pressure on Galaxy deep into stoppage time, and Chivaviro took advantage after Galaxy failed to defend a corner kick to salvage a draw.

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi again lacks clear finishing by the players and is hoping to sign several players soon.

“It is true that we feel up top, we have the same kind of players, who like to dribble and play in short spaces.

But we lack a bit of power.

We lack players who can shoot and make decisions.

We need to get those kinds of players in the future,” said Nabi in a post-match interview.
