Residents of Schweizer Reneke who are dissatisfied claim that political disputes are impeding service delivery

Residents in the North West’s Schweizer Reneke-based Mamusa Local Municipality claim that problems with service delivery are still present because of disputes between the council’s opposing parties.

The African National Congress (ANC) will hold hearings to discipline five council members for allegedly defaming the organisation.

Following the local government elections in 2021, the council members allegedly agreed with the opposition to elect an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) council member as speaker of the council.

In May 2022, the council meeting saw a spike in tension.
