The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced an early Christmas for social grant beneficiaries that their grants will increase by R10 in the October payment cycle.

According to the agency, the adjustment is in line with the announcement made by the Minister of Finance earlier this year when he tabled the Budget Speech for the 2025/26 financial year.

Godongwana announced two grant increases, first one from 01 April 2025 and a slight increase on 01 October 2025.

“Old Age Grants will increase from R2 310 to R2 320, old age grants (older than 75 years) will increase from R2 330 to R2 340, war veterans grant will increase from R2 330 to R2 340, disability grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320, care dependency grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320,” said Andile Tshona, who is a Senior Manager for Media Relations at SASSA.Tshona’s comments were welcomed by the agency’s CEO, Themba Matlou, who described the adjustment as crucial and will serve as a safety net to social grant beneficiaries against economic hardships.

“This reaffirms government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships,” explained Matlou.

Matlou also assured eligible beneficiaries that they will receive their grants without any interruption during the October payment cycle. The agency says social grant payments for October 2025 will be processed as follows: Old Age Grant will be paid on 02 October 2025 Disability Grants will be paid on 03 October 2025 Children’s Grants will be paid on 06 October 2025
