The North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Sello Lehari has assured the family of Matshidiso Mokotedi that he will leave no stone unturned until justice is served.

This after the 31-year-old Rustenburg-based traffic officer, was brutally murdered by her alleged partner.

Mokotedi, who was attached to the newly established elite Provincial Traffic Unit, The Eagles, was found murdered on Tuesday in Rustenburg.

The officer failed to report for duty while her cell phone was also switched off.

A suspect, who is well known and believed to be her former partner, was arrested when he tried to open a case of a missing person.

Lehari, together with the department senior managers and Mokotedi’s colleagues, visited her grieving family on Thursday at Boikhutso village in Ventersdorp.

“We are here to offer our message of condolences. She was one of the most dedicated members of the Eagles, who was committed and always available at work. I was with her not so long ago, escorting me. Really, we are distraught, but we will make sure that justice is served,” said Lehari.

Mokotedi was described as astutely committed to the enforcement of the law.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday in Rustenburg, and she’ll be laid to rest next week Wednesday.

“We are one woman short. We should be gathered here to celebrate that these officers have managed to thwart a crime, or have arrested someone, but we are here to announce that we are one man short.

“It is sad, but we will avail all resources to make that those behind this are removed from society for the longest of time,” empathised Lehari

The officer’s alleged killer is expected to appear in court this week.
