The third state witness, Nthabiseng Mokete told the court she saw three men running down the street in Vosloorus on the night of Senzo Meyiwa’s killing saying one of the men was short and had dreadlocks while there other one was wearing a hoodie.

This is the same description that the first witness, Zandile Khumalo gave of the two intruders that allegedly shot and killed Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa’s at her home in 2014.

Khumalo told the court that Longwe Twala ran out when two intruders came into the house demanding cell phones and money.

Now, the Khumalo neighbour who was with her friends in a car parked outside the yard said she heard three gunshots and saw three people running towards the nearby park.

State prosecutor George Baloyi questioned Mokete about her version of events the night Meyiwa was killed.

“You mentioned that a shot rang off and a person ran past towards the parks. You described the person. You mentioned that the second shot went off and two persons ran past toward the park. Are you able to describe the two persons?

Mokete said: “I remember the first person that went past was of a lean physique and short.”

She added that the first person was alone when he ran past them.  Baloyi asked Mokete to describe the other two people.

Mokete:  “Of the two, one of them was not big in-terms of physique. He was neither lean as well. He had an average height. I remember he had dreadlocks”.

Makete added she was unable to describe the dreadlocks because the two men were running fast and everything happened quickly.  Baloyi asked Mokete to describe the third man she saw on the night in question.

“This other one is slightly bigger in physique. They didn’t outrun each other. They almost ran side by side. There was one who was a little bit in front of the other and that very one with a bigger physique had a hoodie on his head. He was a bit taller than the other two that I had already referred to,” she added.

Five men,  Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli are appearing in court charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. They have pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
