Calls from the fans of  one of SA’s leading rappers Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes to show love for the slain artist’s last album – Mass Country – seems to have been loud and have been heard all over the country as it has now reached gold status.

His girlfriend, Nadia Nakai shared the news on her social media post on Thursday morning by sharing a picture of the album cover followed by an announcement that it had gone gold.

Mass Country was only released on February 24 shortly after his gruesome killing together with his friend and popular chef Tibello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane outside a Durban restaurant in February.

His team released a studio video of him explaining what the album was about before his tragic  death.

“It’s literally called Mass Country, for the masses of the country. There’s only one audience that I am pandering to and that is South Aaa, and listen, we are running music right now” he said in the clip.

Some of the features in the album include South Africa’s greats such as Nadia, Sjava, Blxckie and Khuli Chana among others.

While his fans and supporters are securing his place on the music scene, they are also on a mission to find his killers.

A petition started by a Lelo Ndlovu Waka Gatsheni on Change.org , calling for justice for AKA has accumulated nearly 10 000 signatures.

This petition is addressed to the KwaZulu-Natal and National SAPS expressing the frustration of South Africans by the level of crime in the country, including Lelo’s growing pains in the matter as she too lost her father to cold-blooded killers.

“Unlike AKA, my father had to go through excruciating pain of knowing what was happening to him. He tried to flee to one of the other rooms in the house when a hitman followed him then shot through the door of one of the rooms he had run into when trying to call an unresponsive emergency number.

“My father finally succumbed from blood loss as he dropped to the ground only to be shot three more times. Despite him surviving the shooting, he became a quadriplegic and he died of renal failure,” she said.

No arrests have been made in the killing of Forbes and Motsoane.
