The Proteas sealed the series with a commanding win in the second ODI on Friday night, defeating the host nation by 25 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
After being sent in to bat first, the visitors put on an impressive score of 292 for three in just 46 overs, showcasing a dazzling performance led by opener Tazmin Brits.
In a remarkable innings, Brits scored an unbeaten 171 runs, marking her career-best performance and her second consecutive unbeaten century of the series. This remarkable achievement underscored her form and resilience at the crease.
Brits found excellent support from captain Laura Wolvaardt, as the two forged a remarkable partnership, amassing a staggering 260 runs for the first wicket. Wolvaardt also showcased her batting prowess, contributing a vital century of her own, which created a solid foundation for their total.
However, rain interrupted the flow of the match, resulting in a revised target for Pakistan, which was adjusted to 313 runs. Despite a spirited effort, the home side was ultimately bowled out for 287 runs in the 45th over, falling short of the target and handing South Africa the series victory.
