The South African Women’s Under-19 cricket team has once again displayed their dominance on the international stage, continuing their unbeaten streak at the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) T20 World Cup in Malaysia. The Young Proteas notched their fourth consecutive victory by defeating Ireland by seven wickets in their first match of the Super Six stage at the Borneo Cricket Ground in Sarawak.

The match, which was shortened to 10 overs per side, saw Ireland opting to bat first. In a collapse that set the tone for the contest, the Irish squad was bowled out for a mere 35 runs in the final over of their innings, a stark reminder of the formidable bowling line-up the South Africans possess. Displaying resilience and tactical acumen, the Young Proteas quickly capitalised on this opportunity.

Chasing a modest target, South Africa’s batters needed little more than six overs to secure their victory, albeit losing three wickets along the way. This emphatic win positions the team firmly at the top of Group Two, showcasing their journey as a formidable force in the tournament.

As the excitement builds, the Young Proteas are set to take on the United States in their next Super Six clash on Tuesday, eager to extend their impressive unbeaten run in this prestigious tournament.
