The Springbok Women’s Sevens team beat Argentina 21-12 in the final of World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger tournament in Krakow, Poland to win their first title of the year.Zintle Mpupha, Nadine Roos, and Rights Mkhari scored the three tries, which were easily converted by Roos.

The scores were 7-7 at the break, but all changed after the break as the Springbok dominated the match to be crowned champions. The win was however not enough to topple Kenya from the top of the standings, whom the Springbok defeated 22-10 before facing the South Americans.Captain Mathrin Simmers heaped praised on the team.

“We finally got it right.Third and then second in Cape Town and now a victory in Krakow, this shows the improvement and determination we had in the squad today. We were not going to be denied again. We have learned a lot from previous tournaments and that played an important role in our success today,” said Simmers. The Springbok have now qualified for the playoff tournament to be held in Los Angeles, USA, next month.
