Not long after joining his new club Racing 92 in Paris, France, Rugby World Cup winner Siya Kolisi is already teaching his teammates Mzansi’s groove anthem, Mgarimbe’s hit track, Sister Bettina.
In a post on his Instagram, Kolisi is seen walking into a changing room shouting “Sister Bettina’’, and new French teammates, Junior Tabuavou and Vinaya Habosi responded accurately with “Hibiri’’, followed by “Sidlu’busha bethu’’, continued the pair chanting the lyrics of the iconic track.
Musician Mgarimbe spiced the song up in honour of the Rugby World Cup when he released the remixed version, Sister Bokkina, which became the soundtrack of the Springboks’ victory.
Fans reacted with pride and encouraged Kolisi to keep flying the SA flag high.
“Ooh uSiya guys, a true patriot.’’
“You are teaching them.”
“The South African energy is contagious,’’ commented the fans.
Mgarimbe didn’t miss out on the action, expressing his gratitude to Kolisi for promoting the song internationally and reposted the video with the caption “Teach them my captain.’’
In the aftermath of this year’s Springbok victory in the Rugby World Cup, making Kolisi the first captain to win the trophy twice, he has been praised for his leadership skills and approach to life’s challenges.
Despite the big move to France, he says Mzansi will always be home.
