Mamelodi Sundowns sensation Ribeiro Costa dominated the 2024/25 PSL Awards that were held on Tuesday evening.

The awards were delayed at the end of the season, as Sundowns was participating at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the US.

The Brazilian received four awards including the coveted PSL Footballer of the Season, just less than a year after joining Sundowns.

He was also chosen by the PSL players as the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, his solo goal against Orlando Pirates last season was chosen as the Betway Premiership Goal of the Season, and he also walked away with the Betway Premiership Top Goal Scorer awards.

Close on Ribeiro’s heels was Orlando Pirates young sensation Relebohile Mofokeng, who also had a sterling 2024/25 season.

The 20-year-old Sharpeville-born Mofokeng scooped two awards, the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season and the MTN8 Last Man Standing, after he helped Pirates retain the cup for a third successive season.

Meanwhile, in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Hungry Lions Muzomuhle Khanyi was rewarded for his outstanding season, clinching both the Players’ Player of the Season and the Top Goal Scorer awards.

Casric Stars Teboho Lekhatla scooped the Young Player of the Season award, while Dumsani Msibi from newly promoted Durban City was rewarded as the division’s Goalkeeper of the Season.

Sundowns Portuguese-coach Miguel Cardoso walked away with the Betway Premiership Coach of the Season.

Pirates also added awards into their glorious night, when Sipho Chaine was named Betway Premiership Goalkeeper, Nkosinathi Sibisi named Defender of the Season, while Makhehleni Makhaula walked away with the Midfielder of the Season.

Despite a terrible season, Kaizer Chiefs was also recognised at the awards for their Nedbank Cup winning performance, when winger Pule Mmodi was crowned Player of the Tournament, while Pirates’ Mbekezeli Mbokazi walked away as the Most Promising Player of the Tournament, and Magesi FC’s Elvis Chipezeze received the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament.

Stellenbosch FC’s 20-year-old Tylon Smith, who recently joined English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, earned the DStv Diski Challenge’s highest individual honour after being named Player of the Season, while Pirates’ striker Siphamandla Msezane claimed the Top Goal Scorer award.

Match officials were also acknowledged, with Kgara Mokoena and Masixole Bambiso receiving the Assistant Referee and Referee of the Season awards, respectively.
