The ANC’s North West provincial deputy chairperson, Lazzy Mokgosi is the new chief whip of the ANC at the provincial legislature.

Mokgosi takes over from Paul Sebegoe who resigned and was elected to fill the vacant position of the chairperson of the Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Education, Arts, Culture, and Sports Recreation during a Committee meeting held on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Former North West MEC for Department of Cooperative Governance, Mmoloki Cwaile occupies the position of the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee of Public Works and Roads, Community Safety and Transport Management, which was left vacant following the resignation of Onica Medupi as both the Committee Chairperson and the Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL).

The Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Basetsana Dantjie applauded the elections of the Chief Whip and the two Chairpersons of both the Education and Public Works Committees and wished them well in their responsibilities of servicing the people of the North West province.

ANC North West provincial secretary, Louis Diremelo expressed confidence in Mokgosi to lead its MPLs in the provincial legislature and congratulated MPLs for their new roles.

“The election of Cde Lazzy is geared towards ensuring seamless operations between Mphekwa House and the provincial legislature. We have confidence in the capacity of the deputy chairperson of the ANC, his dedication, and his ability to rise to any task he is deployed to. We congratulate Cde Lazzy on his election and wish him well in this new responsibility.

“The ANC further extends its gratitude to Cde Paul Sebegoe for the excellent work he has been doing, and we are indeed encouraged that he is not lost to the ANC caucus. We also congratulate Cde Mmoloki Cwaile on his election as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee of Public Works and Roads, Community Safety, and Transport Management. We wish all Comrades well in their new responsibilities as they continue to implement the mandate of the ANC,” Diremelo said.

Mmoloki Cwaile was a Chairperson of Chairpersons’ of the Legislature’s Portfolio Committees and resigned to serve as the North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs from November 2020 to August 2021 during former Premier Job Mokgoro’s tenure.
